• An original cartridge (that is for example HP, Lexmark etc)
• A cartridge that has not been refilled
• A cartridge that does not carry any other branding other than the original manufacturers

A non-virgin cartridge can be described as:

• A cartridge that has been refilled previously
• A cartridge that has a label for another company (e.g. Cartridge World, Tesco, Asda)
• A cartridge with extra holes or the label removed
